when wronged, we all have the emotions that override our critical thinking. it becomes an attack upon our person where the only way to recover it seems is to take care of ourself, no matter if that is to racially profile others. while this is an unfortunate flaw in human nature, it is also what keeps us alive dating back to the caveman days. to you, those muggers probably looked like a sabertooth tiger. well when you saw something that looked like another sabertooth tiger, you reacted. it's a Pavlovian response. i believe that sometimes we have issues with the fact that sometimes emotions will override our brains no matter how intelligent we think we are.

as to your other questions about personal safety and having guns or martial arts. well that is something that can only be effective if trained in their use.
i hope that things have calmed as of late and you have been able to learn from the situation and make peace with it.

Re: Pumkin email : Greg Tidwell

That's wonderful....not really.

Re: Repercussions of an attempted mugging

a dog that bites indiscriminately...just how much is chain mail these days?

Re: Repercussions of an attempted mugging

If you had a gun a shot them you would put yourself in dept try to defend yourself in court.

Say you had some Bruce Lee like skills and kicked their asses they could then use deadly force against you and be in the clear. You being a deadly weapon and all.

I say best option is a dog that bites indiscriminately and has no ties to you.

Re: Repercussions of an attempted mugging

If they were Japanese, they would of Karate Kicked your ass.

Re: Repercussions of an attempted mugging

The City of Brotherly Love, of course. ha

Re: Repercussions of an attempted mugging

Sorry to hear about this :( ... glad you're okay.
